Is your child interested in computer science, logic, problem-solving, and technology?

​​

StudentScholars Private School is pleased to offer the Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC), organized by the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC).

The BCC is a fun, engaging online multiple-choice competition designed to introduce students to computer science and computational thinking—even for students with little or no previous programming experience.

📅 Competition Information

Competition Date: November 13th 5:00 - 6:00 pm or November 14th - 9:00 - 10:00 am, 2026
Location: StudentScholars Private School-60 Riviera Drive, Unit 2, Markham ON L3R 5M1
Time: 45 minutes
Format: Online, completed individually at school
Language: English
Registration Fee: $130 (The registration fee includes 5 practice sessions and the exam. Please let us know which 5 days work best for you from the schedule below. If you require additional practice sessions beyond the included 5 days, additional sessions are available at $30 per hour.)

Practice classes

Fridays Oct 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th & Nov 6th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm 

Saturday (Oct 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st & Nov 7th from 9:00 - 10:00 am

🎓 Who Can Participate?

Students can participate in one of three levels:

• Grade 5/6 BCC: Students in Grade 6 or below

• Grade 7/8 BCC: Students in Grade 8 or below

• Grade 9/10 BCC: Students in Grade 10 or below

 

Students may participate in only one Beaver Computing Challenge during the school year. https://cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/bcc

🧠 What Will Students Do?

The BCC focuses on:

• Computational thinking

• Logical reasoning

• Problem-solving

• Computer science concepts

• Mathematical thinking

Students do not need previous programming experience to participate.

The competition is completed online and individually, with 45 minutes provided to answer the questions.
