Homeroom programs: offered by Special ED teachers

  • Language & Early Reading Skills -Our Special Education Language and Speech Program is designed to support students with diverse communication needs by fostering their language development, speech clarity, and overall confidence in communication. Led by a dedicated team of certified special education teachers, our program offers individualized and small-group instruction tailored to each student’s unique strengths and areas for growth. We offer an inclusive learning environment that empowers students to express themselves effectively—both academically and socially. Whether your child needs help with articulation, receptive and expressive language, or social communication skills, our program is committed to providing the tools and strategies they need to thrive.

  • Behaviour Skills  - Our Behaviour Program is designed to support students in developing positive, functional behaviours that enhance their success in both academic and social settings. Grounded in evidence-based practices, this program helps students understand the connection between their actions, emotions, and environment, while equipping them with the tools to make positive choices. Led by experienced  special education staff, the program uses individualized strategies—such as reinforcement, visual supports, social stories, and structured routines—to address a range of behaviours. Whether a student needs support with attention, self-regulation, transitions, or social interactions, our goal is to reduce barriers to learning and increase independence.

  • Foundational Math Concepts - Our math curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in number sense, problem-solving, and logical thinking. Through engaging, hands-on activities and real-life learning experiences, children explore early math concepts in a fun and meaningful environment.

  • Music and Movement - Our Music Therapy Program provides a creative and engaging way for students to explore emotions, build communication skills, and support their overall well-being through the power of music. Led by a qualified music therapist or trained special education staff, this program uses musical activities—such as singing, playing instruments, movement, and listening—to address a variety of developmental, emotional, and social goals.

  • Music Therapy - offers a non-verbal outlet for self-expression and is especially beneficial for students who may find traditional communication challenging. Sessions are individualized or offered in small groups, creating a safe and supportive environment where students can connect, express themselves, and grow at their own pace. Whether the goal is to improve focus, develop social interaction, enhance motor coordination, or simply find joy and relaxation, our Music Therapy Program meets students where they are and supports them through meaningful, therapeutic experiences.

  • Art Therapy- Our Art Therapy Program offers a creative and supportive space where students can explore emotions, express themselves, and build self-awareness through the power of art. Guided by a trained art therapist or special education staff with therapeutic backgrounds, this program uses visual expression as a tool to help students process experiences, reduce anxiety, and improve emotional regulation.Through a variety of artistic activities—such as drawing, painting, and collage—students are encouraged to communicate in ways that feel safe and meaningful. Art therapy supports students in developing confidence, resilience, and coping strategies, especially for those who may find verbal communication challenging. This program is not about artistic skill, but about expression, connection, and healing. Each session is tailored to meet individual needs, creating a calm and welcoming environment where students are empowered to explore their inner world and grow at their own pace.

  • Social Skills, Teamwork & Communication Skills - This Program is thoughtfully designed to help students develop the essential interpersonal skills they need to succeed in school, build meaningful relationships, and navigate everyday social situations with confidence. Led by experienced special education teachers, the program provides structured, supportive instruction in key areas such as conversational skills, emotional regulation, perspective-taking, active listening, and non-verbal communication. Using evidence-based strategies and real-life scenarios, students are guided in developing practical tools to express themselves clearly, understand others, and respond appropriately in various social contexts. Whether working one-on-one or in small peer groups, our team focuses on creating a safe, encouraging environment where students can practice and grow their communication abilities. Through collaboration with families and school staff, we aim to ensure students transfer these skills into their daily routines—both in and outside the classroom.
