StudentScholars Robotics & STEM Competition - December 2025
Competition Overview:
Children will use LEGO® robotics kits to build and program a robot based on their age group’s theme and focus. Each group will have a set amount of time to complete the task. All materials and instructions will be provided.
This is a hands-on, creative, and skills-based competition that promotes innovation, collaboration, and STEM learning.
Event Details:
Date: Saturday, December 6th, 2025
Location: StudentScholars Private School Units 2 & 3, 60 Riviera Drive, Markham ON L3R 5M1
Eligible Ages: 4 to 12
Each age group will participate during its scheduled time slot, followed by an award ceremony immediately after.
Participation Fee: $25
To secure your child’s spot, both the registration form and payment must be submitted before the deadline.
Competition Time Schedule
Participants are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes before the competition begins.

Group 1: 10:00 - 11:00 am

Group 2: 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Group 3: 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Registration Deadline:
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, at 5:00 PM. No registrations will be accepted after this deadline.
Please note: A minimum of 8 participants per grade/group is required for the competition to proceed. If this requirement is not met, you will be notified at least 2 days in advance of the competition date.
Age Groups & Time Limits:
🟢 Group 1: Juniors (Ages 4–6)

Time Limit:1 hour

Focus: Introduction to robotics through creative building and exploration.

Goal: Build a simple robot model with support and demonstrate basic movements. No coding required.
🟡 Group 2: Intermediates (Ages 7–9)

Time Limit: 2 hours
-
Focus: Skill-building through structured design and basic programming.
-
Goal: Build and program a robot to complete a simple task (e.g., follow a line, move objects).
🔵 Group 3: Seniors (Ages 10–12)

Time Limit: 2 hours
-
Focus: Advanced robotics challenges, independence, and critical thinking.

Goal: Build and program a robot to complete a defined challenge within the time limit.
Competition Rules:

Materials Provided:
All participants will be provided with a LEGO® robotics set and necessary programming devices (e.g., tablets or laptops). Personal kits are not allowed. -
Team Structure:
Children will work individually or in pairs of 2, depending on the group size and setup. -
Time Management:
Each group must complete their project within the allotted time (30, 45, or 60 minutes). A timer will be visible, and time warnings will be announced. -
No Outside Help:
Parents, guardians, or external coaches are not allowed to assist during the competition. -
Robot Design & Programming:

Robots must be built and programmed during the competition time.

Pre-built models or saved code is not permitted.

Winners will be selected from each age group.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Special awards may be given for creativity, teamwork, or innovation.
